News Article in Albion News

We wanted to inform you about a wonderful surprise we had these past two weeks. As you know, we have been working to restart Pennside Community Church. This past weekend we had an Easter Fun Day for the kids and we wanted to publize this event in the community, so we just wrote a simple email to the local newspaper. The editor emailed back and asked if she could talk to us about our plans at Pennside because she wanted to do a feature in the Newspaper. I went and talked to the editor and she wrote the article. When we picked up the newspaper on April 1, to our surprise we saw a picture of the church on the front page with the title "Pennside Community Church reopens." The artcile turned out well, the only problem is that the color of the picture did not turn out. I guess the printer mixed up the organge ink with the blue. Anyways, we hope you enjoy the article below.

Answers in Genesis

These past three months at Uniontown Heights have been interesting during the Sunday School hour. This past Sunday we finished a twelve part video series called "Answers with Ken Ham." This series is all about being able to defend the Bible from the very first verse, which is "In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth." Ken Ham teaches in this series the importance of taking the Bible's account of Genesis 1-11 literally. Many people today, even Christians tend to throw out these chapters or try to reinterpret them in order to fit them with science. Ken Ham teaches that we need to start with the Bible, to put our our "Biblical glasses" and view the world around us in this manner. But even Christians who take this position struggle with what science and evolution teaches and in this series he addresses some of the issues people use to prove that the Bible is wrong. For example he talks about dinosaurs in the Bible, how all the races of people go back to one man and one woman, proof for a worldwide flood, the problem with suffering and diseases in our world. He touches on ten different topics that many Christians ask when it comes to Genesis 1-11.
The videos have been exciting to watch, but for us watching the people in the Sunday School class think about the Bible and struggle with some of these issues have been even more exciting. People began to have a hunger for God's Word and realized that true science does not contradict, but actually affirms what the Bible teaches. God is working in people's lives at Uniontown Heights church as we all seek to stand firmly upon the Word of God without compromise. I am reminded of the children's song "The B-I-B-L-E" which says, "the B-i-b-l-e, yes that's the book for me, I stand alone on the Word of God, the B-i-b-l-e." Let us stand upon God's Word alone, which is what the the protestant reforms cried when they cried, "sola Scriptura" (Scripture alone).
