6 Verses That Can Change Your Life

When I first received the book 6 Verses That Can Change Your Life and saw that it was endorsed by Max Lucado, I thought that this book was going to be good. I would like to tell you that this book definitely lived up to my expectations. This book not only reminds us of six simple truths through six Bible verses, but through Joe Barnett’s personal stories the reader begins to see just how much these 6 verses need to be memorized and applied to our daily life.

The book is divided into six sections, one section for each verse. The sections are:
1. Trust – Proverbs 3:5
2. Assurance – Ephesians 3:20
3. Courage – Joshua 1:9
4. Patience – Psalm 27:14
5. Peace – 1 Peter 5:7
6. Joy – Psalm 118:24

In each of the sections, Mr. Barnett introduces the topic and the verse in a section prologue. He then explains what the verse means and how the verse can be applied to our daily lives through both Biblical and personal stories. Then at the end of each section, he gives us resolutions to help us apply this verse to our lives.

One thing that I really enjoyed about this book was how practical Mr. Barnett is throughout the book. As a pastor myself, I work hard to help people understand that the Bible is more then just an old book teaching us things about God, but that it is practical and needs to be followed in our day to day life. This book does just that. By memorizing these six verses, and applying them to our lives, we can really change and become more like Jesus in our daily lives. When we understand that we can trust God, that we have assurance that God is always with us, that we can have courage and do not need to be afraid, that we need to have patience in our lives by waiting on God, that we can have true peace by giving God all your worries, and we can have joy in our lives, then no matter what our external circumstances may be we can have hope and encouragement to continue to follow God.

I review books and received a complimentary e-book edition from the publisher through Bookcrash.
